Calling All Upper VI Polished Corners The Quondam Travel Fund The Quondam Travel Fund helps girls who have been at the school who seek to broaden their education and experience by travelling abroad either in their gap year or before going to university, ie within 12 months of leaving FHS. Click to read information about The Quondam Travel Fund The Grant -The grant will not be more than 50% of the total amount which the applicant needs to raise. -The maximum grant awarded will be £750. This may be divided between 2 candidates. -Grants will be awarded normally to girls travelling abroad. -Any girl who has attended FHS Clarence Gate and is in her second year of the Sixth form can apply. The Application -Preference will be given to applications involving an element of education or service to others. -The application should include: *Details of the planned journey, *destination, *length, *purpose of the visit and *costs involved. -One paragraph should cover: How the applicant expects to benefit from the visit. How the project will benefit from the work of the applicant (if relevant). What difference winning the scholarship will make to the applicant’s trip. Applications will be considered at a committee meeting of Quondam once a year. Final applicants may be requested to attend an interview. The Junior Prize is open to IIIrd, LIVth and UIVth Forms. The Senior Prize is open to LVth, UVth and VIth Forms. Consideration will be given not only to the quality of the writing, but also to spelling, grammar and punctuation. Judging will be by the Quondam Committee at the annual committee meeting and two prizes: The Junior Prize is £25, the Senior Prize £50. How - Number of words - from 300 to 1,000 words. Any application in excess of 1000 words will be disqualified. - The essay must be a new piece of work, written especially for this competition. No homework or coursework will be accepted. - The essay must be typed and submitted by email to: Nadia Demetriou Ladas, Quondam School Liaison at quondam@fhs-nw1.org.uk with the subject line ‘Quondam Writing Prize’ Required Information as a header at the start of your essay: -Name -Form (e.g. III, LIV etc) -Title of Essay -State whether Junior / Senior Prize -Total Number of Words When Entries must arrive NO LATER than Februry 21st 2010.
